Q: Why do you require to keep a credit card on file?

A credit card is required in case you owe a copay/coinsurance, which you should confirm with your insurance company prior to booking an appointment and is paid at the time of service, or to collect a late cancellation or no-show fee for an appointment.

How long is a nutrition consultation?

Usually, the initial appointment is about 90 minutes long and follow-ups are 45-60 minutes each.

Where will me meet?

Accepted Answer

We will meet remotely via telehealth using a private and secure portal. I have found that people are much more comfortable and open to discussing sensitive topics in person and you don't have to drive 30 minutes and wait for your appointment to start!

How often will we meet?

Accepted Answer

Initially, I prefer meeting weekly or biweekly for at least a few sessions until you feel confident in your plan and can begin on small steps to work towards your goals. Once you start feeling more confident, we'll meet every 3-4 weeks to make sure you stay on track. On average, most patients see me for 3-6 months until they feel ready to tackle their health on their own.

Can I send you labs and doctor's notes to review?

Yes! This is preferred and I will be requesting this information from you during your intake paperwork prior to our initial appointment. I will take the time to review all of your labs and paperwork with you so that you can understand exactly what your situation looks like.

Question 5

Will you give me a meal plan and educational handouts?

Accepted Answer

I do not believe in providing you with a strict daily/weekly meal plan and believing it is something you will ever stick with but I will definitely provide sample menus and easy recipe ideas that can be easily modified by switching around a few ingredients. For handouts, yes! I will provide handouts on whichever nutrition topics you are interested in.

Will you help me reverse my chronic kidney disease or other conditions?

To put it simply, chronic kidney disease cannot be reversed. You can only slow down the progression so that you will never need dialysis. For other conditions like prediabetes, hypertension, obesity, and high cholesterol, we can work to get them under control so that you can avoid medication or even reduce and stop the medications altogether.

Question 7

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel, please do so with 24 hours or more notice. There is a lot of planning and time that goes into preparing for every session and your dietitian will not be paid for that time. If you cancel will <24 hours notice or do not show up to your appointment, there will be a $50 late fee charged. We require you to keep a credit card on file for this reason.
